2 day self pleasure workshop

November 23 + 24, 1-8 pm each day, East end

Bodysex® is a nude masturbation workshop created by Dr. Betty Dodson in the 70’s. Katrina trained directly underneath Betty and has facilitated workshops for the past 7 years.

Having incredible (connected, meaningful, pleasurable) sex with yourself is such an asset—physically, emotionally, psychologically, and relationally. Bodysex® workshops support women to connect to their bodies and orgasm to heal shame, enhance pleasure, and encourage self-love.

$1400 CAD Accommodations not included.

Bodysex® is a process of self-knowledge. There is no failure. We pull back the layers of shame, guilt, misinformation and trauma to reveal your most authentic sexual self. And that self belongs. Fully.

What happens?

Bodysex® is based on Feminism’s Consciousness Raising model from the 1970’s. Women would get together and speak first person about their experience.  What became clear was that women all had a shared experience of inequality, discrimination and sexual repression.  They weren’t alone.

Betty was in the same consciousness-raising group as Gloria Steinem.  With Gloria’s encouragement, Betty signed on to lead “physical and sexual consciousness raising” groups which she later shortened to “Bodysex”.  Each of the rituals (seen below) in her workshop was designed to support women to love their bodies and move fully into pleasure.

  • Share how you feel about your body and your orgasm in a supportive, non-judgmental group environment.

  • During one of Betty’s workshops, a woman shared that there was something “wrong” with her vulva – her husband had never seen asymmetrical labia like hers. The group asked if they could see her vulva to see what she was talking about. Before Betty knew it, the women were displaying their vulvas and each was different from the next. More importantly, genital shame was blocking their orgasm.

This ritual is always a powerful moment. Think about how many times we look at our faces but we never look at our sex organs. To fully embrace pleasure, we must understand our basic anatomy, find the parts that bring us to orgasm, and claim our body for our own pleasure.

Partipcants are guided as they identify their clitoris, clitoral shaft, inner and outer labia, pelvic floor muscles, urethral sponge (the g-spot). When we view, touch, and name our sex organ, we take ownership of our body.

Pleasure exists for you and those you choose to share it with….period.

  • Betty had a celibate period where she would self-pleasure for hours trying different techniques while watching herself in the mirror. She learned how to build more energy behind her orgasm so that she felt more intensity, more of a release in a position that would work during partner sex.

The Rock n Roll Orgasm technique is the foundation of what we call the combination orgasm: clitoral stimulation with vaginal penetration combined with hip movements.

Participants learn how to stimulate their sex organ, engage their pelvic floor muscle and move energy through their body to achieve their first orgasm or enhance their current orgasm.

Her method has been studied in Europe on over 400 anorgasmic women with 93% efficacy.

I demonstrate the method and we practice in several positions.

  • Experience self-pleasure by exploring the techniques you’ve learned, (or whatever else you feel like) on your own without judgment or expectations. Practice taking up space with your pleasure. We open the hour with breathwork to get the nervous (feeling) system fully on, followed by an amazing playlist to carry you through the rest of the hour. Receive assistance/coaching in the moment should you desire.

  • This is one of the most tender parts of the workshop. We divide into two group and each woman receive nurturing, non-sexual touch without sexuality or the need to perform.

  • Reflect on the weekend and celebrate community. Usually followed by a naked nacho party ;)

FAQs

  • I facilitate Bodysex® workshops for cis women as well as gender-non-conforming/genderqueer people with a pussy. If you are trans please check out my colleague Kristy’s work. They are a Bodysex® facilitator holding space for YOU.

  • An intake call with me, access to Bodysex Online (value $250) to prepare, 14 hours in session in a beautiful venue, facilitated by me, all the supplies you need, food and drink, and a follow-up integration call 2-4 weeks later, happening on zoom.

  • It is the rarest thing to be in safety and open up to others about personal aspects of our lives. Women’s orgasms and pleasure, or the lack there of, have been given little support or understanding. Now is our opportunity for being truly seen and heard.

  • $1400 CAD for the weekend. This includes everything except accommodations.

You will be invoiced a 50% deposit, and the remaining amount will be invoiced a week before the workshop. There are 2 x 50% financial aid bursaries available for each workshop. These are given first to women of colour, fat women, and women over 45 (these groups are lower represented, and I want you there)! You’ll see a spot to indicate so on your application if you want access to one of these bursaries.

  • The heart of the workshop is vulnerability. We want to become more transparent to ourselves and to each other so that we might uncover things that are keeping us from experiencing pleasure and accepting ourselves as we are. Clothes project an image of who we are and in Bodysex® we want to be as close to our authentic selves as we can be so that the healing processes can happen. This will also help to heal negative body image. Time with others in this state will help us develop a deeper level of comfort within our bodies.

  • The purpose is to familiarize ourselves with our genitals so we can better understand their function and how they look.

It is uncommon for many individuals to have looked at their own genitals. And it is even more uncommon to have shown our genitals to others.

Knowing sexual parts is all-important to enhance our orgasmic and pleasure potential. Seeing other genitals helps us to appreciate the samenesses and differences.

Enough can’t be said about the power of others admiring this most sacred part of our body. It has the power to heal shame, celebrate beauty, and really connect us to our sexual selves as nothing else can.

  • Many of us can be stuck in our known masturbation practices and this is a way for you to rethink your practice.

A demonstration is done for tips and pointers. We are here to fully learn about our sexuality within our bodies.

Masturbation is the foundation of our learning. Doing it together becomes a celebration! We find in breaking this cultural taboo, it becomes natural and a fun learning experience. The best way to learn is by having fun.

The experience of witnessing others’ self-generated sexual pleasure and having our’s witnessed is both powerful and vulnerable. There is no right or wrong way to do this. The point is to enjoy yourself as much as possible in the presence of others.

Orgasm is not the goal. If you have an orgasm or two or three, that is great and if you don’t that is great too.

  • Declaring what may be uncomfortable for you is all-important so yes, you are encouraged to speak up about the area(s) of your body that are off limits. This might change as you get into the massage. You might want those areas touched as you become more comfortable so speak up if that happens. Also, you may want more attention to some particular area or areas. Please speak your yes and no. This is for you so your full enjoyment of it is key and the goal.

  • No problem. Someone almost always has their period. You can use a tampon, menstrual cup, or a piece of natural sea sponge during the body celebration ritual and erotic recess

  • Space is incredibly limited. We understand that emergencies and sickness happen. In that case your payment can be shifted to a future workshop.

what people have to say

The whole experience was truly delicious. I was able to connect with something everyone said or experienced, which was the affirmation I didn't know I needed. Looking at everyone's vulva and my own also deepened my appreciation for not only my own body, but women in general. The way we make Science an Art - Wow.

In addition to the actual lessons shared verbally, I learned so much by what the faciliators embodied -- shame-free acceptance of their bodies and delightful embrace of so many 'taboo' topics within sexuality. Loved that these were handled with humour and grace and sex positivity.

Every little glimpse I had into someone else's world around sex and pleasure and intimacy helped guide me to places within myself that I am so grateful for. I know it's an experience I will carry with me forever (and I would love to do one again, or even facilitate one!). As I feel the high fading, more clarity is coming through about how I want to navigate through this strange society. I feel like there's hope for women to regain their pleasure and power.

Loved the fun, silly, open, down-to-earth vibes -- loved that there was so much humour in the day. Thought Kat added tons to the day with the knowledge she shared and her deeply grounding presence.

Loved the gorgeous sensual environment and all the little extras - warm cookies n free skincare goodies n rich jewel-toned blankets added so much to the day.

The food was INCREDIBLE and added so much to the sensual experience of the day. Overall, it was a remarkable experience that left a deep and positive mark on me. 11/10 loved it and want to do again one day in the future :)
